BACKGROUND: Enterprise stent was approved for the treatment of wide-necked intracranial aneurysms. However, it has been widely used in the endovascular treatment of intracranial artery stenosis, which is still controversial. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the safety and efficiency of the Enterprise stent in the endovascular treatment of intracranial artery stenosis disease. METHODS: We conducted a retrospective case series of 107 patients with intracranial artery stenosis who received Enterprise stent implantation at Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital from January 2020 to December 2022. The rates of recanalization, perioperative complications, in-stent restenosis at 3-12 months and stroke recurrence were assessed for endovascular treatment. RESULTS: A total of 107 individuals were included in this study, 88 were followed up, and 19 (17.8%) patients were lost to follow-up. The operation success rate was 100%, During the procedure,4(3.7%)patients had vasospasm, and 2(1.9%) patients showed symptomatic bleeding. The overall perioperative complication rate was 5.6%, including 2.8% distal artery embolism, 0.9% in-stent thrombosis, and 1.9% symptomatic bleeding. 88 (82.2%) patients were followed up from 3 to 12 months, of whom 12 (13.6%) had in-stent restenosis, 4 (4.7%) recurrent strokes and 2 died of pulmonary infection caused by COVID-19. Patients were divided into 3 groups according to the cerebral artery, including the middle cerebral artery group, internal carotid artery group, and vertebrobasilar artery group. CONCLUSIONS: In this study, the placement of the Enterprise stent in patients with symptomatic non-acute intracranial stenosis was successful. However, the occurrence of periprocedural and long-term complications after stenting remains of high concern.

Herein, we present catalyst-regulated switchable site-selective hydrosilylation of enynes, which are suitable for a wide range of alkyl and aryl substituted polar enynes and exhibit excellent functional group compatibility. Under the optimized conditions, silyl groups can be precisely installed at various positions of 1,3-dienes.  While a- and γ-silylation products were obtained under platinum-catalytic systems, b-silylation products were delivered with [Cp*RuCl]4 as catalyst. This process leads to the formation of 1,3-dienoates with diverse substitutions, which would pose challenges with other methodologies.

BACKGROUND: To investigate the optimal B1,rms value of renal amide proton transfer-weighted (APTw) images and the reproducibility of this value, and to explore the utility of APT imaging of renal masses and kidney tissues. METHODS: APTw images with different B1,rms values were repeatedly recorded in 15 healthy volunteers to determine the optimal value. Two 4-point Likert scales (poor [1] to excellent [4]) were used to evaluate contour clarity and artifacts in masses and normal tissues. The APTw values of masses and normal tissues were then compared in evaluable images (contour clarity score > 1, artifacts score > 1). The APTw of malignant masses, normal tissues, and benign masses were calculated and compared with the Mann-Whitney U test. RESULTS: The optimal scanning parameter of B1,rms was 2 µT, and the APTw images had good agreement in the volunteers. Our study of APTw imaging examined 70 renal masses (13 benign, 57 malignant) and 49 normal kidneys (including those from 15 healthy volunteers). The mean APTw value for renal malignant masses (2.28(1.55)) was different from that for benign masses (0.91(1.30)) (P<0.001), renal cortex (1.30 (1.25)) (P<0.001), renal medulla (1.64 (1.33)) (P<0.05), and renal pelvis (5.49 (2.65)) (P<0.001). CONCLUSION: These preliminary data demonstrate that APTw imaging of the kidneys has potential use as an imaging biomarker for the differentiation of normal tissues, malignant masses, and benign masses.

The impact of mitochondrial dysfunction on the pathogenesis of cardiovascular disease is increasing. However, the precise underlying mechanism remains unclear. Mitochondria produce cellular energy through oxidative phosphorylation while regulating calcium homeostasis, cellular respiration, and the production of biosynthetic chemicals. Nevertheless, problems related to cardiac energy metabolism, defective mitochondrial proteins, mitophagy, and structural changes in mitochondrial membranes can cause cardiovascular diseases via mitochondrial dysfunction. Mitofilin is a critical inner mitochondrial membrane protein that maintains cristae structure and facilitates protein transport while linking the inner mitochondrial membrane, outer mitochondrial membrane, and mitochondrial DNA transcription. Researchers believe that mitofilin may be a therapeutic target for treating cardiovascular diseases, particularly cardiac mitochondrial dysfunctions. In this review, we highlight current findings regarding the role of mitofilin in the pathogenesis of cardiovascular diseases and potential therapeutic compounds targeting mitofilin.

Short-term high-temperature pretreatment can effectively shorten the maturity period of organic waste composting and improve the fertilizer efficiency and humification degree of products. To investigate the effect and mechanism of the end products on the saline-alkali soil improvement and plant growth, the short-term high-temperature pretreatment composting (SHC) and traditional composting (STC) were separately blended with saline-alkali soil in a ratio of 0-40 % to establish a soil-fertilizer blended matrix for cultivating Lolium perenne L. The pot experiments combined with principal component analysis showed Lolium perenne L. planted in 20 % SHC-blended saline-alkali soil had the best growth effect, and its biomass, chlorophyll content, and plant height were 109-113 % higher than STC. The soil physicochemical property analysis showed that SHC and STC increased the soil nutrient content, humification degree, and enzyme activity at any blending ratio. The microbial analysis showed that 20 % SHC in the saline-alkali soil stimulated the growth of functional microorganisms and the addition of SHC promoted the sulfur cycle, nitrogen fixation, and carbon metabolism in the soil-plant system. The correlation analysis showed that pH; nutrient contents; and urease, catalase, sucrase, and phosphatase activities in the saline-alkali soil were significantly correlated with plant growth indexes (p < 0.05). Georgenia and norank_f__Fodinicurvataceae had a stronger correlation with four types of enzyme activities (p < 0.01). SHC improved the saline-alkali soil and promoted plant growth by adjusting soil pH, increasing soil nutrients, and influencing soil enzyme activity and dominant flora. This study provides a theoretical basis for applying SHC products in soil improvement.

Objective: The distribution of the photon energy spectrum in isocenter plane of the medical linear accelerator and the influence of secondary collimator on the photon energy spectrum are studied. Methods Use the BEAMnrc program to simulate the transmission of the 6 MeV electrons and photons in 5 cm×5 cm,10 cm×10 cm,15 cm×15 cm and 20 cm×20 cm fields in treatment head of the medical linear accelerator, where a phase space file was set up at the isocenter plane to record the particle information passing through this plane. The BEAMdp program is used to analyze the phase space file, in order to obtain the distribution of the photon energy spectrum in isocenter plane and the influence of secondary collimator on the photon energy spectrum. Results: By analyzing the photon energy spectrum of a medical linear accelerator with a nominal energy of 6 MV, it is found that the secondary collimator has little effect on the photon energy spectrum; different fields have different photon energy spectrum distributions; the photon energy spectrum in different central regions of the same field have the same normalized distribution. Conclusion: In the dose calculation of radiation therapy, the influence of photon energy spectrum should be carefully considered.

Background: The underlying molecular pathways of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), a progressive lung condition with a high death rate, are still mostly unknown. By using microarray datasets, this study aims to identify new genetic targets for IPF and provide light on the genetic factors that contribute to the development of IPF. Method: We conducted a comprehensive analysis of three independent IPF datasets from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database, employing R software for data handling and normalization. Our evaluation of the relationships between differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and IPF included differential expression analysis, expression quantitative trait loci (eQTL) analysis, and Mendelian Randomization(MR) analyses. Additionally, we used Gene Set Enrichment Analysis (GSEA) and Gene Ontology (GO)/Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) enrichment analysis to explore the functional roles and pathways of these genes. Finally, we validated the results obtained for the target genes. Results: We identified 486 highly expressed genes and 468 lowly expressed genes that play important roles in IPF. MR analysis identified six significantly co-expressed genes associated with IPF, specifically C12orf75, SPP1, ZG16B, LIN7A, PPP1R14A, and TLR2. These genes participate in essential biological processes and pathways, including macrophage activation and neural system regulation. Additionally, CIBERSORT analysis indicated a unique immune cell distribution in IPF, emphasized the significance of immunological processes in the disease. The MR analysis was consistent with the results of the analysis of variance in the validation cohort, which strengthens the reliability of our MR findings. Conclusion: Our findings provide new insights into the molecular basis of IPF and highlight the promise of therapeutic interventions. They emphasize the potential of targeting specific molecular pathways for the treatment of IPF, laying the foundation for further research and clinical work.

The surface frustrated Lewis pairs (SFLPs) open up new opportunities for substituting noble metals in the activation and conversion of stable molecules. However, the applications of SFLPs on a larger scale are impeded by the complex construction process, low surface density, and sensitivity to the reaction environment. Herein, wurtzite-structured crystals such as GaN, ZnO, and AlP are found for developing natural, dense, and stable SFLPs. It is revealed that the SFLPs can naturally exist on the (100) and (110) surfaces of wurtzite-structured crystals. All the surface cations and anions serve as the Lewis acid and Lewis base in SFLPs, respectively, contributing to the surface density of SFLPs as high as 7.26 × 1014 cm-2. Ab initio molecular dynamics simulations indicate that the SFLPs can keep stable under high temperatures and the reaction atmospheres of CO and H2O. Moreover, outstanding performance for activating the given small molecules is achieved on these natural SFLPs, which originates from the optimal orbital overlap between SFLPs and small molecules. Overall, these findings not only provide a simple method to obtain dense and stable SFLPs but also unfold the nature of SFLPs toward the facile activation of small molecules.

Excessive iron accumulation in the brain cortex increases the risk of cognitive deterioration. However, interregional relationships (defined as susceptibility connectivity) of local brain iron have not been explored, which could provide new insights into the underlying mechanisms of cognitive decline. Seventy-six healthy controls (HC), 58 participants with mild cognitive impairment due to probable Alzheimer's disease (MCI-AD) and 66 participants with white matter hyperintensity (WMH) were included. We proposed a novel approach to construct a brain susceptibility network by using Kullback‒Leibler divergence similarity estimation from quantitative susceptibility mapping and further evaluated its topological organization. Moreover, sparse logistic regression (SLR) was applied to classify MCI-AD from HC and WMH with normal cognition (WMH-NC) from WMH with MCI (WMH-MCI).The altered susceptibility connectivity in the MCI-AD patients indicated that relatively more connectivity was involved in the default mode network (DMN)-related and visual network (VN)-related connectivity, while more altered DMN-related and subcortical network (SN)-related connectivity was found in the WMH-MCI patients. For the HC vs. MCI-AD classification, the features selected by the SLR were primarily distributed throughout the DMN-related and VN-related connectivity (accuracy = 76.12%). For the WMH-NC vs. WMH-MCI classification, the features with high appearance frequency were involved in SN-related and DMN-related connectivity (accuracy = 84.85%). The shared and specific patterns of the susceptibility network identified in both MCI-AD and WMH-MCI may provide a potential diagnostic biomarker for cognitive impairment, which could enhance the understanding of the relationships between brain iron burden and cognitive decline from a network perspective.

Aim: Proof-of-concept study, highlighting the clinical diagnostic ability of FT-IR compared with MALDI-TOF MS, combined with WGS. Materials & methods: 104 pathogenic isolates of Neisseria meningitidis, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus pyogenes and Staphylococcus aureus were analyzed. Results: Overall prediction accuracy was 99.6% in FT-IR and 95.8% in MALDI-TOF-MS. Analysis of N. meningitidis serogroups was superior in FT-IR compared with MALDI-TOF-MS. Phylogenetic relationship of S. pyogenes was similar by FT-IR and WGS, but not S. aureus or S. pneumoniae. Clinical severity was associated with the zinc ABC transporter and DNA repair genes in S. pneumoniae and cell wall proteins (biofilm formation, antibiotic and complement permeability) in S. aureus via WGS. Conclusion: FT-IR warrants further clinical evaluation as a promising diagnostic tool.


We tested a technique (FT-IR) to identify four different, common bacteria from 104 children with serious infections and compared it to lab methods for diagnosis. FT-IR was more accurate. We tested if it could identify subtypes of bacteria, which is important in outbreaks. It was able to subtype two species, but not the two other species. However, it is a much faster and cheaper technique than the gold standard. It may be useful in certain outbreaks. We also investigated the trends between genes and the length of hospital stay. This can support further laboratory research. As a fast, low-cost test, FT-IR warrants further testing before it is applied to clinical labs.

AIMS: The present study aimed to explore the effect of cortico-cortical paired-associative stimulation (ccPAS) in modulating hyperdirect pathway and its influence on balance performance. METHODS: Forty healthy participants were randomly allocated to the active ccPAS group (n = 20) or the sham ccPAS group (n = 20). The primary motor cortex and subthalamic nucleus were stimulated sequentially with ccPAS. Unlike the active ccPAS group, one wing of coil was tilted to form a 90° angle with scalp of stimulation locations for the sham ccPAS group. Magnetic resonance imaging, functional reach test (FRT), timed up and go (TUG) test, and limit of stability (LOS) test were performed, and correlation between them was also analyzed. RESULTS: Three participants in the sham ccPAS group were excluded because of poor quality of NIfTI images. The active group had strengthened hyperdirect pathway, increased functional connectivity (FC) between orbital part of frontal cortex and bilateral precuneus, and decreased FC among basal ganglia (all p < 0.05). Regional network properties of triangular and orbital parts of IFG, middle cingulate cortex, and hippocampus increased. The active group performed better in FRT and LOS (all p < 0.05). FRT positively correlated with FC of the hyperdirect pathway (r = 0.439, p = 0.007) and FCs between orbital part of frontal cortex and bilateral precuneus (all p < 0.05). CONCLUSION: The ccPAS enhanced balance performance by promotion-like plasticity mechanisms through the hyperdirect pathway.

The dynamic mechanical strength of the extracellular matrix (ECM) has been demonstrated to play important role in determining the cell behavior. Growing evidences suggest that the gradual stiffening process of the matrix is particularly decisive during tissue development and wound healing. Herein, we provide a novel strategy to prepare hydrogels with gradually enhanced mechanical strength. Such hydrogels could maintain the dynamic properties at their initial states, such as self-healing and shear-thinning properties. With subsequent slow covalent crosslinking, the stability and mechanical properties would be gradually improved. Our method is useful for sequence programmability and oxidation strategies, which has provided an alternated tool to study cell behavior during dynamic increase in mechanical strength of ECM. BACKGROUND: Limited studies have explored the impact of the Omicron variant on SARS-CoV-2 infection, hospitalization, and associated factors among people living with HIV, particularly in China. The adjustment of preventive policies since December 2022 in China presents an opportunity to evaluate the real-world factors influencing SARS-CoV-2 infection and related hospitalization among people living with HIV. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to investigate SARS-CoV-2 infection, hospitalization rates, and associated factors among people living with HIV following the adjustment of preventive policies from December 2022 to February 2023 in southeastern China. METHODS: A cross-sectional telephone or web-based survey was conducted among people living with HIV in 5 cities in southeastern China from December 2022 to February 2023. Demographic information, SARS-CoV-2 infection and related hospitalization, and HIV-specific characteristics were collected from existing databases and special investigations. Multivariate logistic regression analyses were conducted to determine the associated factors for infection and hospitalization rates of SARS-CoV-2. Additionally, subgroup analyses were conducted for the association between vaccination and infection across different vaccination statuses and time since the last vaccination. RESULTS: Among people living with HIV with a COVID-19 testing history, the SARS-CoV-2 infection rate was 67.13% (95% CI 65.81%-68.13%), whereas the hospitalization rate was 0.71% (95% CI 0.46%-0.97%). Factors such as age, latest CD4 cell count, latest HIV viral load, and transmission route were found to be associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection, while age, cancer, latest CD4 cell count, and latest HIV viral load were associated with SARS-CoV-2 hospitalization. In terms of SARS-CoV-2 vaccination, compared to unvaccinated people living with HIV, there was a lower infection rate among those who had been vaccinated for <3 months in the booster vaccination group (adjusted odds ratio [aOR] 0.72, 95% CI 0.53-0.98; P=.04); and there was also a lower risk of hospitalization among people living with HIV who had received vaccination in the past 6-12 months (aOR 0.33, 95% CI 0.14-0.81; P=.02) and more than 12 months ago (aOR 0.22, 95% CI 0.07-0.72; P=.01). CONCLUSIONS: After the ease of prevention and control measures in China, we observed a high SARS-CoV-2 infection rate but a low hospitalization rate. General risk factors, such as higher age and vaccination status, and HIV-related parameters, such as the latest CD4 cell count and HIV viral load, were associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection and hospitalization. A booster vaccination campaign for booster doses should be considered among people living with HIV in confronting possible COVID-19 epidemic emergencies in the near future.

Cardiovascular implants with different physicochemical properties and degradation properties have special endpoints for their biological evaluation. In this study, the end points of biological evaluation of degradable cardiovascular implants were reviewed by taking vascular stents and occluders as examples.

Severe congenital neutropenia (CN) is an inherited pre-leukemia bone marrow failure syndrome commonly caused by autosomal-dominant ELANE mutations (ELANE-CN). ELANE-CN patients are treated with daily injections of recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (rhG-CSF). However, some patients do not respond to rhG-CSF, and approximately 15% of ELANE-CN patients develop myelodysplasia or acute myeloid leukemia. Here, we report the development of a curative therapy for ELANE-CN through inhibition of ELANE mRNA expression by introducing two single-strand DNA breaks at the opposing DNA strands of the ELANE promoter TATA-box using CRISPR/Cas9D10A nickases - termed MILESTONE. This editing effectively restored defective neutrophil differentiation of ELANE-CN CD34+ hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells (HSPCs) in vitro and in vivo, without affecting the functions of the edited neutrophils. CRISPResso analysis of the edited ELANE-CN CD34+ HSPCs revealed on-target efficiencies of over 90%. Simultaneously, GUIDE-seq, CAST-Seq, and rhAmpSeq indicated a safe off-target profile with no off-target sites or chromosomal translocation. Taken together, ex vivo gene editing of ELANE-CN HSPCs using MILESTONE in the setting of autologous stem cell transplantation could be a universal, safe, and efficient gene therapy approach for ELANE-CN patients.

INTRODUCTION: Cognitive decline progresses with age, and Nr4a1 has been shown to participate in memory functions. However, the relationship between age-related Nr4a1 reduction and cognitive decline is undefined. METHODS: Nr4a1 expressions were evaluated by quantitative PCR and immunochemical approaches. The cognition of mice was examined by multiple behavioral tests. Patch-clamp experiments were conducted to investigate the synaptic function. RESULTS: NR4A1 in peripheral blood mononuclear cells decreased with age in humans. In the mouse brain, age-dependent Nr4a1 reduction occurred in the hippocampal CA1. Deleting Nr4a1 in CA1 pyramidal neurons (PyrNs) led to the impairment of cognition and excitatory synaptic function. Mechanistically, Nr4a1 enhanced TrkB expression via binding to its promoter. Blocking TrkB compromised the cognitive amelioration with Nr4a1-overexpression in CA1 PyrNs. DISCUSSION: Our results elucidate the mechanism of Nr4a1-dependent TrkB regulation in cognition and synaptic function, indicating that Nr4a1 is a target for the treatment of cognitive decline. HIGHLIGHTS: Nr4a1 is reduced in PBMCs and CA1 PyrNs with aging. Nr4a1 ablation in CA1 PyrNs impaired cognition and excitatory synaptic function. Nr4a1 overexpression in CA1 PyrNs ameliorated cognitive impairment of aged mice. Nr4a1 bound to TrkB promoter to enhance transcription. Blocking TrkB function compromised Nr4a1-induced cognitive improvement.

Over decades of development, while phosphoramidite chemistry has been known as the leading method in commercial synthesis of oligonucleotides, it has also revolutionized the fabrication of sequence-defined polymers (SDPs), offering novel functional materials in polymer science and clinical medicine. This review has introduced the evolution of phosphoramidite chemistry, emphasizing its development from the synthesis of oligonucleotides to the creation of universal SDPs, which have unlocked the potential for designing programmable smart biomaterials with applications in diverse areas including data storage, regenerative medicine and drug delivery. The key methodologies, functions, biomedical applications, and future challenges in SDPs, have also been summarized in this review, underscoring the significance of breakthroughs in precisely synthesized materials.

Introduction: Chronic lower back pain (cLBP), frequently attributed to lumbar disk herniation (LDH), imposes substantial limitations on daily activities. Despite its prevalence, the neural mechanisms underlying lower back pain remain incompletely elucidated. Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) emerges as a non-invasive modality extensively employed for investigating neuroplastic changes in neuroscience. In this study, task-based and resting-state fMRI methodologies are employed to probe the central mechanisms of lower back pain. Methods: The study included 71 chronic lower back pain patients (cLBP group) due to LDH and 80 age, gender, and education-matched healthy volunteers (HC group). The subjects are mainly middle-aged and elderly individuals. Visual Analog Scale (VAS), Oswestry Disability Index (ODI), and Japanese Orthopedic Association Scores (JOA) were recorded. Resting-state and task-based fMRI data were collected. Results/discussion: No significant differences were observed in age, gender, and education level between the two groups. In the cLBP group during task execution, there was diffuse and reduced activation observed in the primary motor cortex and supplementary motor area. Additionally, during resting states, notable changes were detected in brain regions, particularly in the frontal lobe, primary sensory area, primary motor cortex, precuneus, and caudate nucleus, accompanied by alterations in Amplitude of Low Frequency Fluctuation, Regional Homogeneity, Degree Centrality, and functional connectivity. These findings suggest that chronic lower back pain may entail reduced excitability in sensory-motor areas during tasks and heightened activity in the sensory-motor network during resting states, along with modified functional connectivity in various brain regions.

BACKGROUND: This study aimed to investigate the efficacy of circuits-based paired associative stimulation (PAS) in adults with amnestic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI). METHODS: We conducted a parallel-group, randomised, controlled clinical trial. Initially, a cohort of healthy subjects was recruited to establish the cortical-hippocampal circuits by tracking white matter fibre connections using diffusion tensor imaging. Subsequently, patients diagnosed with aMCI, matched for age and education, were randomly allocated in a 1:1 ratio to undergo a 2-week intervention, either circuit-based PAS or sham PAS. Additionally, we explored the relationship between changes in cognitive performance and the functional connectivity (FC) of cortical-hippocampal circuits. RESULTS: FCs between hippocampus and precuneus and between hippocampus and superior frontal gyrus (orbital part) were most closely associated with the Auditory Verbal Learning Test (AVLT)_N5 score in 42 aMCI patients, thus designated as target circuits. The AVLT_N5 score improved from 2.43 (1.43) to 5.29 (1.98) in the circuit-based PAS group, compared with 2.52 (1.44) to 3.86 (2.39) in the sham PAS group (p=0.003; Cohen's d=0.97). A significant decrease was noted in FC between the left hippocampus and left precuneus in the circuit-based PAS group from baseline to postintervention (p=0.013). Using a generalised linear model, significant group×FC interaction effects for the improvements in AVLT_N5 scores were found within the circuit-based PAS group (B=3.4, p=0.017). CONCLUSIONS: Circuit-based PAS effectively enhances long-term delayed recall in adults diagnosed with aMCI, which includes individuals aged 50-80 years. This enhancement is potentially linked to the decreased functional connectivity between the left hippocampus and left precuneus. BACKGROUND: Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is prevalent in southern China. EBV DNA is the most useful biomarker in NPC. However, the value of EBV DNA in posttreatment NPC patients infected with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) remains unclear. METHODS: Sixty-four eligible NPC patients were enrolled between December 2022 and February 2023. Patients who met the following criteria were included: had non-metastatic NPC, completed radical treatment, were first firstly infected with SARS-CoV-2 and their EBV DNA changed from undetectable to detectable. RESULTS: At the end of follow-up, 81.25% (52/64) of patients were confirmed not to relapse with undetectable EBV DNA (no-relapse). In addition, 18.75% (12/64) of patients experienced relapse with consistent detection of EBV DNA (yes-relapse). For all 64 patients, the average time from diagnosis of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) to detection of detectable EBV DNA was 35.41 days (2 to 139 days). For 52 no-relapse patients, the average time from EBV DNA changing from detectable to undetectable was 63.12 days (6 to 147 days). The levels of EBV DNA were greater in yes-relapse patients than that in no-relapse patients, and the average of EBV DNA levels were 1216 copies/ml and 53.18 copies/ml, respectively. Using 62.3 copies/mL as the threshold, the area under the curve for EBV DNA was 0.88 for distinguishing yes-relapse patients from no-relapse patients. The sensitivity and specificity were 81.97% (95% CI 0.71-0.95) and 86.67% (95% CI 0.70-0.95), respectively. CONCLUSION: For NPC patients infected with SARS-CoV-2, EBV DNA alone is insufficient for monitoring relapse after radical therapy. Long-term follow-up and underlying mechanistic investigations of EBV DNA changes are urgently needed.
